What I’m Reading – 11/17/2017

At the end of each week, I round up some of the articles I’ve read recently that I think you will find interesting. Here’s what’s going on this week:

  • How Southern Baptists Trained More Disaster Relief Volunteers than the Red Cross (Sarah Zylstra, TGC): This makes me proud to be a member of Southern Baptists.

The Southern Baptist Convention’s disaster response is so massive it financially trails only the Red Cross and the Salvation Army—and has more trained disaster relief volunteers than either one.

  • Jesus Is Not Your American Patriot (Ameen Hudson, TGC):

If Jesus is a patriot for anything, he’s a patriot for heaven. He rules a kingdom immensely better than America or any other nation. He is the Savior who will come riding on a white horse, with a robe dipped in blood, championing justice and the kingdom of God (Rev. 19:11–16). The flag our Savior waves is the flag of his own kingdom, to which all nations, tribes, and tongues will bend their knee (Phil. 2:9–11). Even the United States of America.

  • Supreme Court to Decide Whether Pro-life Pregnancy Centers Must Promote Abortion (Joe Carter, TGC): Here, Carter updates us on an important Supreme Court case in the fight to protect unborn lives.
