What I’m Reading – 4/7/17

Below are some of the articles and books I’ve read recently that you may enjoy checking out.

• “A Failed Abortion Saved My Life,” (Sarah Zagorski, TGC) — In this brief but powerful article, the author concludes, “Not all Christians are called to take in a foster child or adopt, but we are mandated to do something about abortion, poverty, and suffering families.”

• “3 Reasons Your Youth Leader Needs Seminary Training,” (Cameron Cole, TGC) — This is a wise and needed word for many churches. Youth ministers can be a huge asset to a church family, but they would benefit greatly from proper training and equipping.

• “Fewer Young People Want Gender Equality at Home,” (Belinda Luscombe, TIME) — While studies like this are always ideologically tainted, and the researches even admit they aren’t sure how to understand the data, it remains an interesting trend nonetheless.

• “Pence and Prudence,” (Jonah Goldberg, NR) — There were hundreds of articles on this topic over the last week or so, which itself says something about our culture and context. Whatever else we may say, it is certainly a good thing that the VP wants to protect his marriage from infidelity. That is all too rare!

• “Preacher’s Toolkit: Should I Preach the Longer Ending of Mark?” (Danny Akin, TGC) — Here’s a brief article I wrote for TGC on how to think through teaching biblical passages that may or may not have been in the original manuscripts.
