What I’m Reading – 12/1/15
Below are some of the articles and books I’ve read recently that you may enjoy checking out.
- “Should Christians Support War Against ISIS?,” by Eric Metaxas — “As our leaders decide whether to step up efforts against ISIS, the United States cannot and must not move forward without its conscience — the Church — fully engaged. That means discussing war from a biblical worldview and hitting our knees — not just for the people in France, Lebanon, and elsewhere grieving today, but for those who may have to pick up weapons in defense of the unarmed, and go to war to make peace.”
- “‘Meaning of Marriage’ Group Study from Tim and Kathy Keller” — Colin Hansen highlights the new group study that can be used to go along with Tim and Kathy Keller’s excellent book on marriage.
- “ETS Meeting Addresses ‘Marriage & Family,'” by David Roach — Here’s the Baptist Press writeup on the recent annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society, which focused on issues related to marriage and family.
- “Boko Haram Exceeds ISIS in Terrorism Deaths,” by Diana Chandler — The Global Terrorism Index has determined that Boko Haram has killed more people this year than ISIS, despite the latter group getting significantly more attention.
- “3 Ways Women in Ministry Can Humbly Submit to Church Leaders,” by Gloria Furman — Some wise advice from a woman in ministry for women in ministry.
- “8 Unexpected Blessings of Christianity,” by Chuck Lawless — My SEBTS colleague reflects on some of the many blessings he has received as a result of following Jesus. This would be a fruitful exercise of all of us to do!
